I'm taking 150mg lamotrigine, 40mg celexa, and weaning myself off of topiramate so at 50mg right now. I rarely drink, the last time I did was in July-August I believe. I'm going drinking tomorrow night at a friends house and am just a tiny bit worried about it. Anyone else drink while on meds?

Unfortunately, I have to admit that I do. And it's usually hard alcohol. I take meds for anxiety, OCD, & bipolar. We are in the process of weaning off of certain meds and replacing them with different ones, so I take a lot. :$
I know alcohol can lower the effectiveness of the medication, but I haven't really noticed a difference when I drink. I also take lamotrigine as part of my drug cocktail haha. I think a drink or two would be okay, but ask your doctor.

One winter I went to Europe and I basically told my pdoc I was going to drink the local wine and beer. I asked him how much I could have. His answer was one. I occasionally have two, but I've stuck to one most of the time. I think I was on Epival and Celexa at the time.

When I am in a funk - I will often drink with my med (intentionally) for the sole reason that they say not to.

I used to would have one drink with my psych meds but since they have put me on blood thinners, I've been a good girl and refrained.

Same here except I'm on Wellbutrin, Zoloft, and Xanax PRN. Strong warnings with Wellbutrin, Zoloft with alcohol but other then I seem to get buzzed quicker I do not notice any other side effects or increase in anxiety or depression.

HOWEVER I am use to drinking! If some one rarely drinks, there is no telling what the effects might be for them also everyone is different, so I advise to drink modestly until you know your limits.

I've read, an occasional drink, on an SSRI, is ok. Can you find out, to be safe, from your dr. or pharmacist?

What about alcohol free beers of wines. At least it would look like you were drinking. Its really not worth drinking. Maybe one or two but would you be happy with that, Best wishes
