I contacted the Kansas Writers Association yesterday to see if they had considered a mentoring program or maybe critique exchange. When I was a member I ended up helping everyone else and was even asked to be on the board to help with the more intellectual stuff like programs on complex characters, story structure, etc. But I couldn't get anyone to read my stuff so I couldn't better myself; just didn't know what I was doing wrong and what I was doing right in my writing.

I'll see if they maybe have started some things that could help me get along and I'll go from there.

In the process I've started working on Il Coppélia again. The story line is staying fresh in my head so that's a good sign.

That's great that you are reaching out for help but continuing to working.

That's commendable, but the "mutual" in mutual support failed...

Baaaad weekend. Had to cancel my appt with the therapist because of the kids basketball games. Things got really bad with the wife.

The conversion today is really bad. I couldn't see large objects last night, hear what was happening and I was shaking really bad. The shakes are better and I don't think I'm missing large objects although I'm having trouble seeing what I'm writing here and can't hear people talking.

Contacted the leader of a support group here in Wichita. There appears to be only 1. The rest are for teens or alcoholism.

Problem is that it's $50-$80 per session. So I can either have food for my kids to eat or go to group therapy ...

I've asked if there are insurance options or something like that. We'll see what they say.

On another note, the KWA got back to me. I can't say their response was overwhelming, but I will visit a few of the meetings again starting in January. In the past they had a few Christian Fiction and Teen Lit writers that got together for critiques and they mentioned again that "some members" still get together. Maybe they a group getting together that can handle sci-fi/horror? They also said they were considering changing the format so that there were more critique sessions (0+1=1?). So it's worth a shot. Worst case scenario is I spend a little in gas to get out of the house.

Had to move my trip to the neurologist. We don't have the $50 for the office visit so I'll have to wait until March. Hope it's not a tooma.

Another really bad weekend, but on the plus side I think we made a little progress. I'm going to get with the local Dungeons & Dragons meetup group. It would be nice to be able to make friends again that I can actually talk to about stuff I'm interested in.
