Hello,
Im new to the board. What made me come here is that I think I have borderline personality disorder. I have been depressed since my father died when I was 13 and doctors have just been telling me that I suffer from depression and stick me on meds, mainly prozac but also welbutrin which had some nasty side effects. Nothing has worked so far and I think I now know why. The symptoms describe me perfectly and I am scared out of my mind. I have screwed up so many relationships in my life and Im deathly afraid of continuing to do so. I guess I came to the board to try to stop this and get some kind of control over my life.
Thanks for listening to me. I actually have to go to class right now but I wll check messages later on this evening.

Thanks again and I hope I can help here too,
Jessica

Hi Jessica. So glad you found a place to share your thoughts. It sounds like you've already done some research on this, but here is a link with loads of info on BPD:

http://www.psycom.net/depression.cen...orderline.html

Are you a college student? If so, have you checked out the school's counseling center? Getting in-person help really is the key. Having lost your dad at such an early age is a very big deal. On top of that, to have relationship issues - well, you just really need someone to talk to about all this. In person!

My mom died when I was about that same age. I waited much too long for therapy. The sooner you talk to someone, the better your life will be in the long run. Truly. To learn how to deal with that grief, and to better handle your relationship issues *now* can improve the rest of your life. :-)

Do listen to all us wise ladies and gents - we've been there!

Take care. Emmy

P.S. Feel free to PM me any time.

P.P.S. For even more info, Google Marsha Linehan and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. It is the current treatment for BPD. It's been very successful for some people.

And you could post here under the Personality Forum to meet people with this diagnosis.

hi Jessica, and welcome.

I have borderline personality and bipolar.......you're not alone. I am currently on Depakote and Lexapro, seems to be going okay. Have tried most of the other meds with no luck.

We're all here to help you. Just ask.
