In lieu of Black History Month:
I feel like I'm obligated to enlighten this community (as well as myself) of some important Black Historical Facts. But in doing so, I also feel like I'm the only black person here. Which should be highly unusual, but in my real world, it's not. Yeah, I'm just a black person, lost in a white world. Please don't take me wrong because white is all in my blood, but it only matters to the few of us. (my 3 best white friends) Ironically, I don't have any black friends either. Guess I ain't 'black' enough. I'm not ghetto enough or bougie enough for my black people, and I'm not conservative enough for my whites. I believe it's because 'black' is not indigenous. I'm to vague for the two polar races that produced me.

Although they made me, they did not make me, (or break me.) I found my place despite each race; by the grace of God. I learned how to love & have compassion for people. Period.

I can't really claim to empathize, as I am pretty much crac8er through and through.

But I did want to give kudos to you for the writing. It has a very pleasing flow. If you ever wanted to try your hand at poetry or writing, I would be honored to proof it for you.

Sincerely,
DRB

That is genuine achievement.

Some of us take the words that MLK jr said very VERY seriously.......

"the day when a person is judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin".

So - every time I hear someone start by mentioning their race or the race of another person - it deeply angers me.

That's so fabulous I'm glad you found your place!

For me it's somewhat similar except not quite as extreme? I'm American born Chinese but raised with mixed American Asian values. So a lot of the time I feel like I'm too white for my Chinese friends but I'm too Asian for my white friends. And Chinese people sneer at the fact that I can't speak my "native tongue." And Americans immediately assume that I can't speak English all that well. It's frustrating and I'm still trying to find my place in the world.

But yes please do share! I'd love to learn
