you know what, sometimes its good to just do nothing. i know i do! hehe. its good to allow our bodies a rest time where all we do is just lounge on the couch. if your body wanted to do something else you would have done it, so dont worry about it.

And about the meds, well id certainly advise you increase the meds to what they were before, it is bad timing to come off them, so all i would say is to return to the old dose and continue that way, it isnt a bad thing at all, i see it always as a positive step as long as you use therapy to help the problems as well as the meds.

dont be scared, we are here for you. you have nothing to fear, you are a great person and you have a lot to give, so just concentrate on today and get by best you can. please dont feel scared, you have so much support here at your discretion.

take care

Are you decreasing the antidepressants on your own or with your doctor's help? Withdrawing slowly should prevent withdrawal symptoms. You might want to check with your doctor about what you are feeling.

It's fine to have a day or two where you don't feel like doing a thing; but, do take care of you. Make sure you eat and shower if you can. Those 2 small things will make you feel a bit better while you rest.

I have been decreasing on my own - my dr. didn't think I should, but she sent me to a psychiatrist who said it was my choice. I just wish I weren't feeling so much pain in the process. Today I felt so tired and depressed. Not sure if it is withdrawal from Effexor or if I am falling back into depression.

What made you decide to cut back on your med? If yo uare going to take some of it, why not take your normal dose?

I quit effexor cold turkey and it was very hard; the withdrawals were very hard to deal with. I would not suggest doing it on your own. Your psychiatrist is right... it is your choice. He needs to be informed of your decision so he can help you do this slowly.

Please start taking your normal dose of AD. Some of us just aren't ready to cut back or go off of them and you are probably one of them.
I bet if you go back on them like you are suppose to, you will start to feel better.
In the meantime, come back here and post whenever you need to. We are here for you.

The thing is - I expect it would be 'normal' to feel depressed when you go off an antidepressant wouldn't it? Hoping it's just withdrawal... what do you think? any of you felt depressed when going off and then got better?

I understand where you're at with this as many years ago I was able to go off of AD's after 2 years on them.

The thing is...I didn't feel the depression returning, but felt better so I knew that I'd made the right decision for me. Also, I knew that my depression had been situational...not physical.

If I'd felt an immediate return of symptoms, I wouldn't have followed through. To me (and I'm not professional for sure), it seems as though it might not be the right time for you? Not just yet?

I wish you more than well and understand the struggle...

I'm almost off effexor - and it has been a very rough journey - hard to get off of. Really hesitant to get back on, but I am worried. I do feel quite down - felt that almost immediately, but have been hoping it would pass. Are there natural ways I could go? Don't want to go back on effexor and then suffer through withdrawals again - they're nasty! My general Dr. prescribed effexor and I know she would freak out if I told her I stopped, but it's my body... I think I need to see someone else - she's too set in her opinions. I'm going to a psychiatrist for therapy, but it's not for another 2 weeks - I could ask him - hope I can hang on until then...
