I just came back from University. I thought I was going to find my family the way that I left it, but I was wrong. My mom as it seems suffers from depression and it's affecting everyone. I have no idea how to help her, because everything anyone tries to do to help her, she takes it as an offense. She treats everyone badly and just keeps on saying she will divorce my dad.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom suffering from depression. It's hard to help someone when they get offended when help is offered. If talking to her doesn't seem to be working, you might want to try writing her a heartfelt letter stating your worries for her, maybe getting everyone in the family involved as well. Sometimes, reading sinks in better than listening. Good luck and I wish your mom and your family the best.

I agree.. write a letter to her and tell her you miss her.. that you need her and that its okay for her to let her loved ones help her with this...

Tell her that as long as she is hurting, you are hurting too... and that all you want is for her to feel better and be happy...

She loves you... she is going to want to do whatever she can for you... but she is also angry and having a hard time with this..she may feel like a failure...she may be angry that the depression is taking over her life....

Everything is going to be okay... you did good coming here... maybe what she needs is a good support group ... where she can go talk about it without anyone knowing who she is...

Stay strong... she is blessed to have you for her daughter.. and she will remember that....
