My observation is psychoactive drugs can have highly individual effects; they vary widely from person to person.

Of the drugs you mention, Klonopin/clonazepam has the most discernible effect on me. Nevertheless, by itself it cannot prevent me from becoming over-anxious. I have an arrangement with my pdoc to take an extra dose of clonazepam when necessary.

There are a couple of new ones out. vortioxetine (Brintellix™), and Viibryd (vilazodone). My doc wants to try me on the second one. I don't think they are really that new in that they are SSRI's but just act on a wider range of receptors. I am sure they are very costly. Abilify is fairly new in being approved as an adjunct to treating depression. It is very costly. Unfortunately big pharma doesn't see much of a market and are not developing much new inspite of alot of new studies that are being done. TMC is another area being studied alot right now.

As far as I know I have tried just about everything. Most of the drugs for depression have awful side effects (I had rather be depressed than take most of them). As far as anxiety meds I am taking Klonapin, but the pdoc is weaning me off it because i have been on it too long. My other drug for anxiety is Buspar. Works well for me.
Thanks for this!

Oh, I love Buspar....surpassed Xanax for me, which did nothing....Are you taking Wellbutrin (known for fewer sexual side effects and less weight gain)? There is generic and it works well for me, Before my depression, I suffered insomnia. Dr. prescribed Trazodone. Turns out prescribed for depression, but off label for insomnia (didn't work for insomnia for me, but it would be great to kill two birds with one stone).

Effexor, I tried. I got the shakes badly.

But look into those....rxlist.com has user reviews....

Of course everything works differently for everyone, but I believe in research before trying something new.

Good luck...
