Anyone ever have something due and you just need to get it done and you're screaming in your head to start working on it and that it's so simple and why can't you do it. Useless. Piece. of. Trash.

I'm pulling an all nighter trying to get it done but I just can't even try to open the thing that I have to work on let alone finish it and it's just so stupid because I'm literally sabotaging myself. I'm so angry at myself and even though beating yourself up doesn't work, apparently encouragement is not really helping either. Being cheerful feels like lying and now I've been up all night sitting in front of my laptop not finishing anything. Not even starting anything. I can't go to bed until I finish. But I'm too tired to finish it. ArghA:LSKDJAKLDJ.

Sounds familiar. I have had that feeling myself heading full speed twoards disaster and simply no control to make my body take the necessary steps to avoid it.

It sucks, and I am really sorry you are going through this. On days like that I wish my depression was a person so I could punch him

Oh yeah, I know this situation well. Or I did when I was still in school. Terribly frustrating and overwhelming.

The only thing that helped me was breaking it down into steps.

Step 1: open the book/blank page.

Step 2: Write cover page

Step 3: Make an outline

Etc.

Making a check list so you can cross stuff off helped me feel accomplished even when I couldn't finish it in its whole.

Baby steps... and even with the baby steps... I would work/sit for 45 minutes and take a 15 minute break (usually to make more coffee lol).

It might not work for you, but it was the only way I could make it through. I hope you are making progress. You KNOW you can do it... and do it well! You just haven't done it, yet.

Aha. Well, I ended up falling asleep after taking a shower so I did get a little rest thank you (I'm ready to sleep for days after this though omg). Also, I'm ready to spit nails at my TA hahaha

Oooooh! I once described it like sitting on the tracks watching a train come at me. It's terrifying The entire "deer in the headlights" except with a giant ten ton train honking at you. Oh! If your depression ever humanizes, please punch him for me too
