I have been on almost every medicine around, for my major depression, to no avail. Then, about six years ago i was switched to celexa 20 twice a day. That worked better than anything else i had tried so i stayed on it. About ten months ago i slowly got worse. It keeps building and i quit taking it four weeks ago. I finally found a pdoc and go tomorrow, i am feeling confident that i am going to get help. I just hope i can hear from some of you about what medicines work( or not). I want to have some insight before i go. Thank you so much.

Lexapro made me well, the first time (and fat)
Lexapro the second time made me anxious
Wellbutrin didn't work
Cymbalta worked but also made me fat
Effexor is starting to work a bit...
Good luck
Thanks for this!

Effexor with celexa always worked best for me. Everyone I have taken has quit working after a year or so. Currently I am taking Effexor with lamictal. Adding the lamictal really helped. It is a mood stabalizer that they are using for depression now.

They often use abiliffy now with an antidepressant. Abiliffy is very expensive though

Rx meds did NOT help me... and I tried many different kinds and various dosages. Then again, I don't react normally to medication.

Smoking (Marijuana) did. It helped with the depression, appetite, insomnia, and panic attacks. It's horrible on the lungs though, and legally, sketchy depending on where you live. Also, I find it embarassing to go out into public after smoking (i.e. the smell and squinty eyes).

Sorry, I can't help. Good luck though!!

I have not tried many, but they do have a short life span on many people I think.

Wellbutrin is my poison of choice....with a Buspar chaser...
