I've been suffering from depression for many years now, and the worst part about it is the inescapable loneliness that comes with.
It isn't simply a desire to be with people, it is something so much deeper. It's a deep loneliness, one that digs through the flesh and sinks itself into your very bones. It's a loneliness that cripples. You are left an empty husk, with neither energy nor will to act. No amount of company will cure it, no amount of distractions will make you forget. This is the worst part about depression.

I call it the impenetrable void. Been there, it's too bad all of us who have experienced this couldn't find someway to be in the void together. Still sometimes the knowledge that I know others have experienced this too helps a little bit. As does my own experience that sooner or later it will get a bit better. I think the first few times, before I ever knew that I was not alone in feeling this way, were the worse.
