I can't believe what happened last night. I just want to die.

It's ok. We all mess up. Don't beat yourself up. It's the shame that gets ya. **** shame.

You're not a failure. We've all done things we're not proud of and regret. Hang in there

I took two ambiens for sleep. I had amnesia and did some drinking last night. I found the bottle this morning. I don't remember a thing. I am devastated.

Try not to beat yourself up over it....everyone messes up sometimes. Did you get the alcohol while on the ambien and can't even remember that part or you just don't remember what happened while drinking?

It was three actually.
I suggest (again) that you hand those pills over to your mom to dose out to you. |

It was two last night, three yesterday. I got the alcohol while on the ambien. I woke my mom up four times. And yes she took the pills. I won't be taking anymore.

Quitting Ambien will give you a rebound effect....it's not nice, but it won't hurt you. You will just have bad insomnia for a few nights.
Expect to be awake and have a plan for whatever the middle of the night brings to you personally. Take care. |

Could you talk to your doctor about maybe a different sleep medication, doesn't seem like the ambien does you any good. Other then that there is valarian, but I don't know if you are on other meds or if it would interfere but its a very sedating herb that can certainly help you sleep...I have a tincture of that(it comes as tea, herbal supplement capsules or one can even just buy a bag of valarian root and make tea or tinctures out of it themselves) I also am prescribed trazodone, but if I take the trazodone I wake up pretty drowsy and not as coherent as I'd like to be. I do not take the valarian and trazodone together though its either one or the other.
I have a friend who told me he was taking ambien for sleep at one point and he ended up giving people rides home and driving on it and then could hardly remember the next day..that could have been very dangerous so he stopped taking it. Ive heard other undesired experiences to..I know i would not want to try it. |

I would suggest Remeron.
Melatonin Chamomile Tea

I just want to give you kudus for owning up to what happened. I doubt many people here are going to say I told you so, life is for learning. I still say it is hard to make good choices when you are sleep deprived. I try to not make decisions when I'm in that state because past experience has shown me that I can sometimes make really bad decisions when sleep deprived.
Like zinco said, don't let shame get you. Just add this experience to the big book of learning experiences, and take actions now to find different ways to handle this situation the next time. There is a ton of stuff to find out about sleep problems and there is sure to be something out there that will work for you. Unfortunately sleep problems are a part of depression and will likely happen again. ![]()
