I take it are quitting ambien? While ambien withdrawal is extremely annoying it is fortunately fairly short (2-4 days usually). Now you should probably drink some warm tea and read a book or whatever you do to relax. Herbal supplements (melatonin and valerian root for example) help a lot too. Remember that it only lasts couple of days. Don't take ambien under any circumstance or the withdrawal will just last longer.

I don't think that is possible. Ask her to google it and give you one. Chamomile tea works good to if you can get some.

If you are looking for suggestions; mine would be to accept that you are probably not going to get to sleep tonight.

I find it difficult to read when I'm really tired so I pick favorite fun DVDs and watch them without the sound, using the subtitles or captioning.

Take a long bath and think of kittens and puppy's, in your mind just watch them playing. No inner mind critique just watch the younglings trip, jump, and explore. Think about how soft they are, watch their fur, the tiny little claws and milk teeth as they play with each other.

Draw or color, use a coloring book if you have to.

Sit on the floor and look at one wall for a few minutes then close your eyes and try to remember everything you saw. Then face the next wall and repeat, do all four walls. You can do this with almost anything, the inside of a ref, a painting or picture, looking out a window, looking for details in a piece of wood. The purpose is to keep your mind active but not ruminating or in this case to stop thinking about not sleeping.

That's all I can think of at the moment. As bad as this seems it will pass.
