I was feeling pretty low for awhile now..... and I think I may be coming out of it.

No one thing fixed it for myself. BUT - I did do several small acts of kindness..... donated to a food bank, helped out a sick/elderly person and then the thing I liked best was.....

I saw a group of girl scouts selling cookies at a grocery store. I like the carmel delights. I went up and asked one of the girls what her favorite kind of cookie was - she said thin mints. I bought one thin mint and one carmel delight. I paid for the two boxes, then I kept the carmel delight and handed the box of thin mints to the girl and said that they were for her and walked away to the sound of four little girls all going "awwww".

It cost me a couple of bucks to make that little girls day. And it warmed me heart a ton.

I think charity is one way for me to kick myself out of my darkness.

Way to go!!! You are an awesome man! I am so proud of you! I think you have found a terrific key to fighting depression. Give to others. I find that when I am doing something helpful, I usually forget about my own pain. Amazing.....

That's awesome....
Doing for others sets your soul to rights....good for you.
Sometimes it cost nothing to help someone less fortunate than yourself.

Altruism does a lot for depression....if you are at the point where you are able, of course.

(so when is the name-change happening?)
Thanks for this!

Hi UM, that was SO, SO, SO considerate!!! You ARE awesome!!! Often it's easy to forget what a big difference seemingly "small" things can make to others. You're an inspiration!!!

I find it very helpful to give to others that can not afford the things I am blessed with. That was a great idea with the girl scout! I was down for awhile also but am slowly getting out of it. Giving is great medicine!
Thanks for this!
