So I always feel extremely alone, I feel isolated by friends and people I know as if I'm the only person in the world. I often feel left out of things even if I'm not. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how they dealt with it. It gets very unbearable at times and I wish I could deal with it without it causing extreme anxiety and depression but its hard and I can't seem to find a way. Any help with dealing with this would be so grateful thank you

Depression, as I'm in now, has always made me feel alone in a crowd. As I have been taking medication regularly, I'm pulling out of this - slowly - by starting with small social settings, fewer words than many, and a testing of the waters, if you will. I know that in the past (when I was not depressed) I didn't have these feelings; so I look forward to the days when I can be "free" to be myself again. I hope that's helpful.

Very relate-able.

I can be in the presence of people and feel totally alone. Or you can be joking with collegues and as soon as the joke is over - feel DEAD inside.

In my case - I think it is from my general belief that I just do not fit in this world.... anywhere.

I can relate. I have felt lime the odd person out a lot. Now I know that it was the depression talking but back then I just felt alone.

When I was forced to take a leadership role, things changed a bit. I learned that lots of people feel as insecure and that being the first person to reach out can be scary for everyone. Now when I feel lonely I contact someone, or talk to people on this forum.

I hope this helps

I feel completely isolated in a crowd with my depression and simple conversation is very difficult for me because all I can feel is unrelenting, severe depression. I feel like everyone else around me gets to play in a game that I can't.

Revisiting this thread reminds me of how lonely depression can really be. It seems that the only connection that I have to anything lately is this site. I watch the world go round for days at a time as an observer and not a participant. I've gone from living a life fully to simply existing. I hope that it gets better...holding on to hope...

I can relate to this too. Only I can't deal with it and I gave up on reaching out to anyone. I just don't care about friendships anymore. It's too painful sometimes so I just don't bother now to spare myself. I'm not much fun to be around anyway.
