I need some advise. Im depressed but can still manage to get up, dressed, son to school and out of the house. I am a student in Miami and I only have 2 online classes this semester. I was thinking of getting a job because I want to keep busy and I don't want to remain idle. I have a little PSTD as well. My mother is telling me that she does not think I will be able to handle work, school and a child who has special needs. I am currently on disability and it's just not enough. I need to get out there but I am afraid of landing on my face. Please help

Hello & Welcome, Mikeysmom.

Something to consider is whether the potential job will more than offset the costs involved (gas, wardrobe, etc.) in obtaining and holding the job.

Also, you might check the SSA's Ticket to Work information. For better or worse, I have no personal knowledge of the Ticket to Work program.

Depending on what you're looking for job wise, I would suggest something part time to begin with. But first (I don't know how to do this descretely) check to see how much income you can receive before your disability benefits can get reduced or lost. Is it worth the risk?
