I had a very strange and distressing symptom about two years ago and wondered if anyone else had had it. I was in the psychiatric hospital Tao have my meds changed and had words keep repeating in my head. It would seem to pick on a word that I liked - just to be perverse. It got so bad that I. Had to sit next to a nurse all the time. A few months ago I plucked up the courage to ask my psychiatrist to tell me what it was and she said rumination, but didn't explain further. When I started my new med, lithium, it stopped. I have MDD with psychotic features.

Love to all.

Thanks for finding me such a useful site. I realise that my psychiatrist was referring not to the repeating words but what I was doing, ie ruminating on past problems in the hope of fixing them! It seems it's part of depression. I must try and mend my ways.

Thanks again.
