My therapist is useless! My goal was to come to insight on how to use some new tools to manage my depressive moods, which comes and goes during different periods in my life. I just to be a successful adult and not have to worry about this thing holding me back as it has most of my life. Would love feedback :-)

Hello & Welcome, Kia_Kountdown. My impression of therapists is that they are all so different from one another. If one doesn't "click," another might. How far have you gone in therapy? Have you seen a regular doctor or been referred to a psychiatrist?

Hello kia, nice to meet you, welcome to Psych Central!

I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with a therapist. Your ideas sound good, for many people it is about getting a good toolbox together for those darker days. Please keep sharing with us.

Define "useless" - What has been discussed? How many times have you went to therapy?

It's my school therapist. A phd intern. Been going since October.

"Useless" for me is not getting to a point of insight to manage this problem. Plus I'd like to find out exactly what's wrong mentally so I can manage this and become a successful adult.

Hi. I just came back from a brief vacation. Was great! I kept my expectations low and got more than if I would have had them high. Coming home brought me back down. The environment, being at home with my parent. Wish I could keep the high of being away. Maybe I do need meds at this point.
