I've been suffering from dysthmic disorder for the past two years. I'm a junior high school student and my family doesn't know about my mental health condition and i'd like to keep it that way. Overall i'm not taking any medications or having psychotherapy. Yet i know i have to figure out how to let this go, probably by myself. Any suggestions about possible self treatment ways?

Hello & Welcome, Thatsjustwhoiam.

A number of conditions can mimic or accompany depression. Is it possible for you to have a full medical examination with a complete blood workup?

Well, at this moment it seems unlikely, unfortunately. Though i've made quite a lot research on the subject - not only using internet but also reading books.

Since letting your family know, getting professional help, and/or "letting it go" isn't an option for you, there really isn't much you can do except learn how to cope and deal with it.

I've had it my whole life and didn't even know such a thing existed until I descended into a major depressive disorder (with psychotic features), then everybody knew I had mental health issues, even those I was trying to hide it from.

Not trying to you out there, but any type of depression is nothing to mess around with and the sooner you get it out in the open and start receiving the professional treatment needed, the better off you'll be.

Sincerely,
Pfrog!

Thanks for this!
