I was diagnosed with mood disorder following an extremely stressful even last year. I was hospitalized for 5 days and prescribed zyprexa 2.5 and clonapin of which I take only .25 at most, mostly .125 (one quarter of one pill). I take both at night. For the first 7 months I functioned well during the day and decided to cut back on clonapin to zero. This was fine. Then I started a 10% reduction of zyprexa every month. By the time I was at 1.5mgs, I was having trouble with confusion/ depression/ anxiety. I went back on 2.5 zyprexa and one quarter of one pill at night. I am having confusion and anxiety during the day, which is alleviated by one quarter of a pill of clonapin. I tried Wellbutrin and Celexa, but Wellbutrin only wired me up for 2 hours and then went into a downer. Celexa made me crawl out of my skin.

I want to go back to normal and get off zyprexa and clonapin, but now my condition is affecting me during the day. Any suggestions on beating this depression anxiety and being off drugs? Thank you.

Hello & Welcome, Sabastiana11. I also suffer from both depression and anxiety and take similar meds.

I personally have not had success off the drugs--and no amazing success with the drugs, either. In my case I believe the antianxiety medication is more valuable to me than the antidepressant.

Keep searching and working with your doctor(s). Success stories of individuals eventually coming off all their psychoactive medications exist.
