My therapist told me tonight that she will be retiring in December. It has caused a log if feelings of course, sadness, worry and anger. The thought of finding a new therapist and starting over feels so overwhelming right now. She said she will help me find someone new and won't let me fall but it is hard to believe that right now.

Hello, Crook32. Starting over with a new therapist is something I have had to do many times. Try to be positive. Sign a release if your want your records available to the new one.

Changing therapists can be anxiety provoking . I would take advantage of the offer of your therapist to find a new one. I hope your search goes well.

sorry to hear it crook..... very hard. I have had two therapists "move" to another city within the last year. So I think I understand your concerns.

I hope you find an even better therapist....

Thanks everyone. I didn't sleep last night because of the anxiety. I didn't think this would bother me so much but I am really starting to feel abandoned and scared to start over. And just when I was finally feeling better after 18 months of hell.
