I'm incredibly tired of waiting for my appointment to a mental health professional to see if I am clinically depressed.
I told my mom about how horrible I've been feeling, emotionally, physically and of course, mentally, only a few weeks ago and I'm getting really sick of waiting. It's going to take a while before I can go for reasons my mother won't specify (I'm 14) and I've been feeling like this for months, almost a year, so for ME, it's taking an eternity. I'm breaking down more frequently and my mom isn't completely understanding. I'm starting high school this month without my only friend and I'm terrified that I'm going to snap during school in front of new people. It's taking a toll on me. There's also a chance I may have anxiety as you all may know by now that it's not uncommon for an adolescent to develop anxiety when they have depression. So that makes my situation worse. I don't know how much more I can take before I do something regretful. I was really hoping I'd be better by now but unfortunately for me, things don't always go as I planned. |

I am sorry your mom isn't being understanding toward your needs. Is there any way that you can see a counselor at your new school? Some high schools have the free option of seeing a counselor.
I hope you will be able to get help ![]()

Hello & Welcome, Colorlesslife.
Diagnosing and dealing with clinical depression and anxiety in adolescents is particularly tricky - my impression from reading many accounts here and various articles. One of the first obstacles is finding someone to take your symptoms seriously. When you start high school, start looking around for possible help. If an assigned counselor is not helpful, perhaps a school nurse will be. You may find one or more of the teaching staff has a psychological background. Even if they are not one of your teachers, they may be willing to listen and help. Please make yourself at home here.
