I am new to this forum so bear with me. I have suffered depression on and off for 6 years, always requiring antidepressants but never hospitalisation, and felt the relapse coming a few weeks ago - lethargy, waking at 4a.m, poor appetite. My mood wasnt too bad to begin with but got worse. I have always been reluctant to take meds cos of side effects which seem to affect me badly. I have one friend who I can speak to openly, and she recommended i read 'The Apron and Napoleon's Hat' by Dr H Murray. It's an incredibly funny memoir from a doctor who was depressed. It makes mental health look o.k to the general community and will hopefully help get rid of the stigma. I think it's only an ebook and I got it on ibook store, but I think it's on kindle and other e-readers. It really did make me feel better and have not re-started meds, so I hope it helps someone else. Get well soon.
