It has been a full week since my migraine first started and the best I can do is manage the symptoms. I have an appointment with my PCM tomorrow so I pray some relief is coming.

I can't handle this forever. I am depressed, anxious, in emotional and now physical pain, I can barely function. My thoughts are so disorganized. My coping strategies are failing me because they involve me being active if not physically then mentally. I can't even let in the sun.

Any advice from someone who has been here. I am desperate.

Migraines are miserable. The best you can do is to see a doctor and get treatment for them. Sometimes they have to try different medications before they find something that works well. Usually they will prescribe something to take to ease the pain at the onset of a migraine and a different medication to be taken on a daily basis to prevent migraine headaches. They like to prescribe "triptan" meds for the pain.(sumatriptan, relpax). Check your insurance. If you do not have insurance coverage these meds can be expensive but they are effective. If you do not have good medicine insurance coverage tell your doctor and he/she can prescribe something less expensive to control the pain.

I understand light and loud noise trigger migraines. They are terrible. One more thing, it is always best to take a pain medication when you feel the migraine coming on. Don't wait until it is real bad before you take pain medication, then it is harder to get rid of the pain. I know your misery. I have been battling this for 3 months, and I am hoping I am finally landing on the right combination of medication. Best of wishes.

I was suffering with the same thing. Of have migraines that lasted for a week and were so bad that the only thing that relieved the pain a tiny bit just for a second was throwing up. O would get these atleast once a month. My Dr put me on amitriptyline, and it seems to keep them away for the most part. I went from having them fairly often to maybe 3 or 4 times a year. I know your pain. It's like you would be better to just cut your head off because that pain couldn't be as bad, but once you find the right medication, it gets better. But for now, if you haven't tried it, I take a few migraine Tylenol (now called ultra relief in Canada) and then I take a few gravol, even if I don't feel nauseous. For some reason it helps.

Thanks, I see my doc today so hopefully I will have good things to report. The ER told me to take Zofran and Benadryl and it actually helps a bit. On the down side it make me feel like a total zombie. On the upside I can drive with sunglasses on and read words on a page.

I tried the grocery store yesterday and the combination of sights, sounds and smells sent me straight to bed. Last time I was this sensitive I was pregnant (not, I checked). It just sucks because I have been working for a year to get a hold on my depression and get my weight back up to my normal. And now I am not eating again because the smell and texture sends me running to the bathroom

Sorry to rant. As I have said before we recently moved, and I am coming out of a relapse so I don't have a whole lot of people I can trust with my mental health issues in my day to day life right now.

So, I got something for the pain. Yay! Down side is (TMI WARNING) I vomit every time I take it. 10 day follow up and if this is still an issue I may get a daily tab. My new home may be trying to kill me.
