Well, I've been crying on and off for most of the morning. I have an MD appointment today - probably going to start taking some medication again. This illness is worse than anything that I could even imagine. Emotional pain is so overwhelming. I wish all of you well.

I hope your appointment goes well and the meds work. Personally I think you are taking the right step. We both know the ups and downs of meds but mine have saved my butt the last six months.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to spend a good amount of time with my regular MD; I discussed the problems that I've had with medications that I have previously taken, and further discussed the issues of cost (which are a burden to me because of high deductible insurance). I was given samples of Viibryd and informed that he'll have enough samples to carry me for several months. I start tomorrow morning, and am hopeful that this will help. Glad that I get to see the doctor for a follow up in one week, and then two weeks after that. It's been a rough year...it's time for some relief.

Good luck with the viibryd. My recollection from being on it when I first became depressed is that it needs to be taken with food. Did your doctor discuss that with you? Maybe I'm confusing that requirement with a different med but I don't think so.

Thanks newgal...he did say to take it with food. I had great success with Lexapro a couple of years back; I'm hoping for similar results with this. My main challenge will be to stay off of the websites that deal with side-effects and negative reviews. That usually gets me to thinking that this won't work for me either. As I recall, when I first took Lexapro, I just simply took it, and, not surprisingly, it worked. In retrospect, Effexor was probably working for me, too; I just gave up on it because I thought that it was dulling my emotions. After a couple of weeks of weeping and crying, I think I might actually prefer emotional "blunting". So, when I'm not here for a while, it's due to my self-imposed hiatus from the web in general. Reading about medications is never a good idea for me.
