I have had a migraine since Sunday. Depression + physical pain = no fun.

And whoever picked out the very high pitched hold music for the nurse's line I have been on hold with for the past 20 minutes should be flogged.

Rant over

Migraines are the worst. I literally screamed in an ER once because they made me sit there two hours in pain. They quickly gave me a demerol shot and the pain was over. Have you tried Axert or Frova? Have had good luck with those.

That sounds horrific.

Have any of your caretakers ever addressed migraines and depression as related, or have they treated them only as unrelated problems?

Sending best wishes for a speedy end to the migraine (and I hope you're no longer on hold with that music)...

This is the first time I have had one in my adult life. I did end up in the ER. I must have looked pretty rough because it is the fastest I have ever been seen. They ended up running a CT scan because I had aphasia. Apparently my brain is as normal as it can be. Yay! they gave me IV fluids, benadryl, and zofran and I feel better.

We just moved, so it may be the stress, change in weather, who knows. Maybe my depression is just trying to find a new way ti get at me.

Anyways. Thanks everyone for listening and the kind words.

I can relate to the misery of migraines. I have been plagued with them since June. They are absolutely miserable. Bright light and high pitched noise can set off or intensify a migraine. I had no idea there was any sort of "connection" between depression and migraine headaches. I thought they were independent entities. I went to my neurologist today and they changed my migraine medicine-- again. I am being switched from Topamax and imitrex to amitriptyline and maxalt. I hope this works. I hope your migraines stay away and don't come back. I would not wish that misery on anyone.
