Someone where I go to school recently committed suicide. I never knew her, but it has effected me,& it made me depressed. I even feel guility.
Now, I'm tempted to kill myself. I've been suicidal a lot in the past,& her suicide is making me contemplated the idea of it myself. I'm not popular at all, no one ever talks to me. Beside four people. So, I don't even think anyone at my school would be effected. I bet they'd be happy. |

If you didn't know that girl who committed suicide and it affected you in this way, do you really believe people would be happy if you did it too? Of course not. It would affect people and break their hearts. I promise you have a bigger impact on your school and community than you realize right now.
I hope you'll reach out to speak to someone about this, school counselor or parents. I'll keep you in my thoughts. |

No one is going to be happy if you commit suicide. You may feel that way now, but when we're depressed our emotions lie to us. I agree with Abe, talk to a school counselor or utilize one of the suicide prevention hotlines.

I know it would make me sad.
Is there someone that you would feel comfortable talking to about this? |

Hi FancyDog, I'm sorry you're struggling so much
![]() But as to how little it would effect others.........well I'd say..........doesn't matter in the slightest, YOU matter!!!! If people aren't in general "flocking around", well that doesn't mean you matter any the less. You don't have to be popular to be important, to be valued, to deserve.......... Just be who you are, hey?? Four people already like your company/you. Four people!!! And if some other people aren't seeing your good qualities as much, it's their loss just make sure you see those qualities, make sure you're proud of them. Because you should be!! ![]() And the/your depression, even if you didn't know the girl, then I can understand it must have felt very "close to home" and triggering especially as you'd been having those thoughts yourself........but it is the depression that's creating those thoughts, and maybe it could be very different without the depression??? So do you think that you could maybe look for some help/support with it e.g. if you have a school counselor or/and maybe your parents or/and your doctor?? Although if you want to talk more on here for now, there are lots of really understanding, supportive people around. Please remember things don't always have to be this hard if you can get the right help/support. Might take time to work through things, might not be easy but............ ![]() Alison |

Feeling sad and uneasy after a suicide is really normal. Try to talk to some of your friends about how they feel. If you have these feelings and think you may act, call a friend, a parent, a suicide line, or go see a school counselor. You could also talk to a trusted teacher. No one would be happy to lose you.

Last Wed an 8th grader in the junior section of my school passed away after falling from his apartment window. My sister (in 9th grade) knew him and it affected everyone deeply because he was such a kind, well-liked and respected boy. It's unsure whether his was a suicide or an accident though (likely the latter) but it is still terribly tragic.
My point in sharing this is that no one can say that their deaths will not impact the people they know. I'm very sure someone would grieve for you and even if you may not think there will be many, you should think of those who will. Life is precious and you are young, and even though things may seem terrible now they will get better. I'm not that much older (graduating high school in 2 months) and I've struggled with suicidal ideations and attempts too, but my best friends told me they would cry if I killed myself and I could not put them through that. Wishing you the best and big ![]() P.S. Do speak to your school counsellor if possible - it helps tremendously.

I also witnessed a suicide almost 2 years ago, it was my neighbour he lived in the same building as me i was not im my place at that time, i knew about it from a call a friend called because he was worried he knew i tried suicide before and tought that he might been me since his body was covered, when i got home a few minutes later there he was, his body was laying on the floor on the building entrance with blood everywhere i can still remember the smell of his blood and there were people everywere around him comenting.
Honestly i didn't feel a thing but as i was there looking at his corpse i tought that i could be in his place, i know a bit of what was going on in his life, while other people might had looked at him as a crazy man that jumped of a window, i knew how hard that might had been for him and he had the courage to end it. In some point it motivated me to set myself free aswell, but i didn't try anything people die he jumped to his death i can understand why but that does not mean i have to do it too, you also don't need to do it too. |
