Do you tell others you have depression? Do they think you're a nutcase when you do? I am hoping to go back to work sometime in the near future (on disability), but don't know what i'll say when I go back... How do others respond? Do they think you're unstable?

Hmm -
![]() Well, I am not working at the present time, but I use too - and when I was working I did not tell my co-workers about my condition, for most of them would not understand the dark cloud that hangs over you day after day - and they rarely could understand it when you say "I cannot seem to help it" - for unless another has gone thru depression (mild or severe) it is often hard for them to grasp the fullness of the control it has over a person and their life. LoVe, Rhapsody - .... my family and best friend knows. |

I've only told people who need to know and people closest to me who I can trust. as far as I'm aware no one has called me a nutcase, but only one person has ever really understood, and that's because she had struggled with depression herself.
the only thing I could reccomend is tell people only if you feel comfortable with telling them, and you feel they could be supportive, it isn't something you should have to cope with alone. I hope some of that helps ![]() |
