Have you ever stopped a medication because of the side effects? Even if it is kind of working. Right now I am sick half the time, not sleeping, and very dizzy. Am I feeling a bit less suicidal? Mabye. Something has changed. Has anyone stopped taking a medicine because of the side effects?

Yes I stopped taking Brintellix because I was dizzy all the time, had headaches and trouble focusing. But I talked to my pdoc before stopping it so he could replace it first.

Yes, twice. One was an antidepressant and the other a stimulant. In each case I coordinated the cessation with the prescribing doctor.

If the side effects are severe enough, don't wait for the next appointment -- call the doctor or office and let them know what you are experiencing.

Yes, I tried to taper off Paxil and it was a disaster.

Yes absolutely. Mood stabilizers and I do not mix every one my Pdoc has tried me on has had caused worse side effects. The most recent one cause me to lose 10lbs do to violent vomiting.

Best advice. Be honest with your doc. Call them if you do not have an appointment scheduled, a shift in mood can be enough to make them want to change your meds.

I have had to stop so many medications from "wacky" side effects that I can't even count the number. But as others have said, don't just stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to do so! You usually have to step down from medication.
