Hi, my name is Sara and i struggle with depression and anxiety. I am 3 days into a new antidepressant and I am starting to feel better. The meds are making my brain kind of foggy and I am pretty drowsy. It's kind of nice because I feel like my mind is resting. I can't really think alot bc my mind is foggy, but its kind of nice not to have to think. My mind is usually so busy with anxiety and worry and negative thinking. So I am enjoying the break. Does this happen to anyone else?

I am glad you are getting some relief from the racing thoughts, worry, and negative thinking that can cause us anxiety. I hate when that happens to me. A feeling of impending doom is what I get. Like something is going to go horribly wrong at any minute.
What meds are you taking?

I've been on the same SNRI for 2+years. At this point about all it does is it keeps me from sinking dangerously low. It also seems to help control my anger. That's about it... but it's all I think I can probably expect... it's enough...

I am currently taking 100mg of Pristiq. I just switched from Cymbalta and Wellbutrin bc they stopped working. Hopefully this new one will help. So far I'm feeling better, ive gona a whole day without feeling overwhelmingly sad and depressed for no reason. Progress!

Hi Sara, really pleased for you that you've found something that's starting to help you. Thanks for sharing that, always good to hear
![]() As for the foginess and drowsiness.........they may ease off a bit as you're getting used to the new medication, or if the dosages/times you take it are tweaked by your doctor/pdoc at a later time. But hopefully you'll still be getting the other benefits of them. And keep on sharing your journey on here, hey?? Lots of understanding and supportive people on here if you need any extra support, advise, encouragement...........along the way. ![]() Alison |
