I dont know. Im confused. Maybe because i dont exercise or lead an active lifestyle. Simple things like walking downstairs to my kitchen seem an effort. Also important, are antidepressants suppose to give u energy?? I feel a slight boost from mine but not like coffee... Ugh depress is so Complicated, then u throw in anxiety- its viscious

Lack of energy frequently accompanies depression. It can also be a symptom of other conditions such as anemia (different kinds), thyroid problems, sleep problems, etc. That's why getting a full medical workup can be valuable in connection with depression.

Personally, I've never received a boost from antidepressants.

I second what Rohag said except when I first began Prozac back in the 90s I did feel edgy. I didn't mind that because I was already more than edgy from anxiety and... it also cleared my mind so that I was able to make use of that edginess.

Hi Infinite,

I want to second what Rohag said, especially if you feel physically tired. Hypothyroidism will do that to you, for instance. Here's a reference with a bunch of things to check

http://forums.psychcentral.com/4262681-post105.html

I also never got an energy boost from antidepressants. They ranged from "meh" to making me sleepy all the time.

I agree with Rohag that lack of energy can be caused by other underlying problems. However, a big problem with depression is lack of motivation. And just no desire to move or do anything.

Yes, it is a common symptom. If you want to add a little exercise, though, that can only help with overall health.

Low energy to do stuff is listed as a symptom of depression. I'm tired all the time. I don't have much energy to do stuff. I do excercise. I have been running regular 3-4 times a week for some months now. But it doesn't help with my depression or energy levels. When I'm tired, I can go for a run, but after my run, I'm just as tired as before. I get about 8 hours of sleep on most nights. I usually eat healthy. I started taking a new anti-depressive 3 weeks ago.
I don't know. My energy is staying low.

Citalopram gave me a weekend of wonderful energy verging on mania when I first started. heavens, how I loved that feeling and want it back. Nothing like it since, and now hard to say where the listlessness from depression ends and that from the medication begins.

I was on mirtazipine and venlafaxine together, and they boosted my energy.
