I'm embarassed that I am on this forum. Not because I don't belong here, I absolutely can relate. But what makes my issues worth reading or helping over others? Why should I post and expect acknowledgement? I'm embarassed because my issues are no different than everyone else's. I'm embarassed because I posted my issues thinking that they will get attention. I don't want attention. I want sanity! I'm embarassed because I'm sad.

No need to be embarrassed here. We all have similar issues and struggles. I understand that you want results. I am sorry that you are sad. The best way to get help is to reach out and advocate for ourselves. When we stop that, we will not see progress. I hope that you ask for help so you can feel better.

Everyone has issues, whether they post them in public or not. You're here because you are tapping into community knowledge. People everywhere have plenty of helpful info. You have just as much right to as anyone else here.

I can't speak for others, but I can speak for myself. I don't care how trivial you think your problems are compared to others. I will help you out because, it's what I would want if the tables were turned the other way. You are worthwhile to people in your life whether you think so right now or not.

And that is why your problems are worth reading. Helping you doesn't just affect one person in my eyes. It has a domino effect.

If you learn how to help yourself, you'll want to help others. Pass it on.

Hi Purpleplaces, welcome to PC!!!
It sounds like it took a lot to post on here, so really well done and thank you for sharing with us
"What makes my issues worth reading or helping over others?"
Well everyone on here matters, including you, so I'm glad you've joined us.
If you're hurting, you're hurting and just because someone else is as well, doesn't make it OK for you to hurt, for you not to have support as well.

"Why should I post and expect acknowledgement?
I'm embarassed because my issues are no different than everyone else's
.............I'm embarassed because I'm sad."
Because everyone deserves acknowledgement, to have their feelings respected and to get the support they need.
Way too many people out there can be embarrassed/uncomfortable in talking about depression- if you broke your leg and were in pain then you wouldn't be embarrassed to talk about it would you- well depression isn't your fault and depression doesn't make you a lesser person because you're suffering from it. And you posting here........kudos!!!! You're helping people break away from some of that stigma out there, and I hope we can give you the understanding, support you need. As you say.......you're not on your own

"I'm embarassed because I posted my issues thinking that they will get attention. I don't want attention. I want sanity!"
It's OK, it's not "attention", it's understanding and support you'll be getting posting on here. So give us a chance, hey?? Sometimes you need that to get to a better place.

And again.........welcome to PC and thank you for posting. Hope you'll stick around.

I completely relate to not wanting "attention" but needing support and understanding. I wish so much I had "sanity" and so I would then have no need to post you're not alone here, so many understand!

Me too!!! Plus my parents are foreign and they don't "believe" in depression. It's really messed up cuz they're both obviously depressed and have been forever.

I can relate to this so well! Ive just recently joined this site in desperate need of support, but every post i make i feel like I'm being attention seeking. However I'm coming to understand that its not. Everyone here is kind and understanding of one another and it really helps!

Isabella, I just saw this reply. I actually deleted my tapatalk app here after having wrote my posts out of embarrassment. Through the time I was gone I actually decided I needed some sort of med and was prescribed prozac 6 days ago. I decided to join back up because I feel weird and I realized everyone here totally understands. Thank you for your post here. I hope you are doing good

Dear friend

i can almost compare this to a scenario where you go to a distant land and you can't speak the local language. you feel embarrassed because you are not able to learn the language. then you come across a group who can speak your language. don't you feel a rush of joy that you could communicate to someone who can understand you. this forum is one such group. we understand your "language"

Here is what I think my wife would say.............

If you had a broken leg, would you be an attention-seeker to go to a doctor? If your house was on fire, are you an attention-***** for calling 911?

You have an illness. You did not CHOOSE to be this way anymore than someone chooses to have a broken leg or have their home on fire. You are simply seeking relief.

To me it seems logical. So WELCOME to you. Please stay.

Wow... Thank you so much you guys. I have never felt this "welcomed" before. I guess I am embarassed about it because of the way I grew up. My parents are foreign and raised me to believe that medicines and doctors are evil. While growing up I watched their mental illnesses get the best of all of us and they're still in denial they need help. I know I have acquired some of their brain chemistry, as well as my own life circumstances that also have an effect. Thank you guys so much for making me realize I'm doing the right thing in discussing these things and actually getting help for it. From the bottom of my heart, it's really special to hear people be so supportive.
