I'm ok right now; I was just wondering due to a family member (it's a long story, but we were afraid her dr was going to think she was suicidal).

Well is she suicidal, if so maybe it would be best her doctor does think that...I mean if she really is not and you're worried about her rights being threatned I'd maybe look up legal information on what exactly is the basis for a doctor suggesting someone be put on suicide watch....and perhaps go from there. But if there is a chance she's suicidal, trying to keep that from whoevers treating her probably would not help the situation in the end.

I mean in my experience, when I have expressed that I am feeling suicidal a couple of times that was enough to land me in the psych ward...but I was worried about attempting so I won't say that was an entirely unwanted result as it did give me time to let the suicidal ideation die down without having an opportunity to do anything stupid. But it might vary depending on where you are.

Usually there is a set criteria for determining if a person is actually suicidal. They are asked some questions and if they fit the criteria they are put on suicide watch or are admitted to the proper ward in the hospital.
