Yesterday I found out that my cat went missing from my parents house 2 days ago and hasn't been seen since. He's and old cat and my parents think he has died. I wanted to cry but couldn't. I spent all day lying around my apartment trying to cry but I just cant.

I know I'm sad but I just feel empty. I cant feel anything, just tired and dead inside. I almost feel like I could hurt myself and I wouldn't feel pain, I would just recognize that I'm in pain and feel nothing. I have had depressed thoughts and feelings for 8 years but I have never been this way before. I have been having trouble bringing myself to care about things for a while now, but to not be able to cry at the loss of one of my longest friends and closest companions?
That honestly scares me.

This too is grief, framed by depression.

Are you in any kind of treatment for depression? Do you have anyone to talk to about your current non-feelings?

i am soo sorry, its hard losing a pet, maybe you are going through the grieving process and don't realize it yet, like in denial.

I am sorry! I know how you might feel. Are you taking any depressive meds? The one I am taking makes it difficult to cry. Sometimes I want to let it out, just to decompress, but the meds prevent it. Praying for you!

i remember it taking me months to have an actual reaction to my best furry friends death/loss and we'd had her for 20+ years. try to be easy with yourself, mourning comes in a lot of different forms and doesn't follow a specific timeline for everyone. sorry for your loss. they are really great little partners.
