Has anyone tried this? I'm thinking of buying some. It can be brought easily on Amazon, is not dangerous and as I understand it is just a low dose of natural Lithium.
'The substance is used in psychiatric medicine to treat episodes of mania in people with bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression. In the raw, lithium is a soft, silver-white alkali metal, found in some foods and, in some places, the drinking water. Studies have suggested that in places where people get trace amounts of lithium from the taps, the suicide rate is lower than elsewhere' http://www.theguardian.com/environme...thium-in-water Thoughts folks, good idea or not? |

I have been taking this for a few years. My Pdoc prescribed them and I can get them from her or Amazon. I haven't had any problems with them, it is a 5mg dose. The doc said it was good for the brain.

I'm nervous of self medicating, if you take other medicine, you could get harmful interactions. It's interesting to hear of this though.

I'm not on any meds, none at all. I just ordered some. I know I'm manic, but I think it can be controlled this way. I'm a nurse so I know my symptoms...I don't see where it would hurt.

Is this the same as the Lithium that would be prescribed by a psychiatric doctor? My psych NP prescribed me Lithium at one point - there are many reasons that I stopped it, including the fact it gave me uncontrollable tremors/twitches. Which is common with it. The research I did about Lithium made me feel it was rather dangerous....that's just my personal opinion. Obviously many people benefit from it though. However, either way, I'd talk to a doctor about it rather than just self prescribing.
If it's not the same, just ignore ![]()
