Has anyone seen a psychiatrist in the Duluth area? I want someone who doesn't rush me in and out the door, and will actually take the time to listen.

Hi there. You might want a therapist rather than a psychiatrist. In the U.S., most psychiatrists do not do therapy at all. They diagnose you, prescribe drugs and send you to someone else for therapy. - vital

I realize that. I am not looking for a therapist. Unfortunately, I am probably not going to be able to stay off medication, so I want to discuss the issue with a psychiatrist since I don't feel that family doctors know enough about these things.

If you don't get any answers here, you might ask at the beyondblue.com forum. They have a section specifically to ask for doctor referrals, and the forum owner will put it in an email to everyone if no one answers right away. Thanks. I'm actually a member on that site as of a couple of weeks ago. Hadn't thought of posting this there.
