I'm in my early 30's, male, generally healthy, proper weight for my height, etc. I tried everything from exercise to therapy to eating better, etc. Finally started antidepressants a couple months ago. They seem to be helping, but I still have zero energy and actually am even more exhausted than I was before I was taking them, but feel mentally a bit better, so I just try to deal with it.
Well, I've been having some issues in the bedroom (so to speak) which I blamed on my anxiety/nerves/whatever, but did some online reading about low testosterone and it sounds like exactly what I've been dealing with for the last 12 years of my life. I mentioned it to my doctor, and just had my testosterone levels checked. They are definitely low. 190 on a scale where a healthy person my age should be easily 600+. Most of the guys I'm seeing on the internet who score that low are obese 70 year olds. I'm super frustrated because I finally found a nice girl who is willing to look past the screwed up state my life is in due to my last 10+ years of depression, and even a sample of Cialis that the doctor gave me wasn't enough to allow us to have successful intercourse. Doctor is starting me on Testosterone gel tomorrow (I think Androgel). I'm reading mixed reviews. But, I'm also reading tons and tons of comments from people who sound exactly like me who have spent years living in misery and wanting to die and trying everything imaginable to get better only to find out that the real problem was low testosterone levels. Anyway...I hope this ends up being the solution. The really annoying thing is reading all these comments from judgmental people trying to characterize everyone who asks about their testosterone levels as obese 50 year olds looking for the fountain of youth. I'm a reasonably healthy 33 year old just trying to get back the last 12 years of my life and wanting to feel like a human again. |

Hello flannel pajamas: Well stated! I haven't watched any of his videos lately... but I used to follow Noah's "BigNoKnow's" channel on YouTube. He struggled mightily with low testosterone as well as with major depression, dissociation, & other mental health issues. If, by some chance, you're not familiar with Noah's channel, I heartily recommend it! I wish you all the best with your recovery!

Well, I thought I was starting it a few days ago, but insurance doesn't want to cover it and my doctor is fighting with them to get it allowed or else it's far too expensive. I guess being in my early 30's with the hormones of a 70 year old isn't enough to convince them it's necessary. :/
