If there is always someone better than you, what's the point in trying? Can someone explain that to me? I would prefer to just give up now rather than continue to work hard for no pay off and end up being mediocre. At what point do you decide that it is waste of time and that you should just give up because you're never ever going to reach any of the goals you have set yourself? I'm so done.

Because it's not their life you're living. It is your own.

If you give up, that's also you choosing your path in life too.

There is this quote that I find quite insightful. When you feel that you aren't good enough, remember everyone is different.

Albert Einstein wrote:

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” The question I have for you at this point of our journey together is, “What is your genius?”

but their is always someone worse off too

that's how you have to think of it

don't think about the people better than you, try to think about the people that don't have what you have, (and here i am again giving advice, and not actually using it for myself. lol)

It's not a competition.
Mediocre doesn't mean you're worthless, it means you're mediocre - and it's also relative comparison. Since when being best is the only thing of worth? If it were that way, most of the world would be worthless.

You can try to be the best you can - this is the real thing of worth.

I can set myself to failure ~ and then say what's the point. But I've already decided I'm gonna fail when I set the expectations beyond what I can actually do at certain moment.

“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?”

― Richard Dawkins

Despite it all, I am always glad to have been here. I got a chance at being. Yes, I pretty much ****ed it up but I got in to the exclusive showing

You don't have to be the bestetest to be good at something. So take school. Only one person can be the best in class. Only one person can be best at certain thing. And it is usually one thing. Should Steve Jobs have given up trying anything, because he wasn't the best in running marathons? Should athlete give up because there are people who are better at academics?

If everybody gave up because they are the "best" and there is someone better, nothing would get done, nothing would be invented...

You can contribute a lot to the world be being good enough. And everybody is good enough at something.

There will always be someone better and lesser than you . When you die there is no score keeper checking you out . A scrub woman who worked hard all her life and was a good person is the same as the pope or any other famous person . She may have been happier than most .There are no perfect people if you look hard enough everyone has their failings .
This politically correct crowd of hollywood visions are disgusting , I hope they are ready to be judged by the same . You should be governed by the good you do . I believe the saying about romes Julius Caesar when he was killed " the good men do is often interred with their bones but the bad lives long after" something like that forgive my less than direct quotes .
Live by your own good morals and forgive yourself, try to develop humility , find the good in people around you . to be human is imperfect . Even old Albert Einstein made mistakes and was wrong scientifically(At Times) as well as being divorced .
You can be as happy as you decide to be . Be kind to yourself .
