I think it's terribly cruel: You begin to see what life could feel like with out depression- Then you get hit with it's crushing weight. I no longer know if the brief periods of sunshine are worth it. It makes the dark times seem even worse.

Living with depression does have ups and downs. Just as all of life does, I'm afraid. Over time, if we take care of ourselves and treat ourselves with kindness, the roller-coaster ride can get better.

I know the feeling and have the same questions. The sunshine is fleeting.

But then again, you could spend around 45 years in a state of constant Depression, like me. Sure, there have been fleeting moments of light or enjoyment, but the searing pangs of guilt that I dared lift myself instantly wiped these out.

Take pleasure in the periods where your Depression abates, live those times to the fullest. Perhaps one day THAT will become your new Norm.

Dave.
