I found out someone I used to work with passed away. I didn't know them well. But I talk to them some they were always kind to me. Is it weird to feel sad about this even though I didn't know them well?

First off, hugs and warm thoughts your way.
A former teacher of mine from the 70's passed away a few months ago. It saddened me and I was sort of surprised. I wasn't close to her but I saw her in the mid 90's briefly. She had left the convent, married and had a son. I sent a note to her family via email (to funeral home) and had a lovely response from her spouse. I think it was just a pivotal time in my life...high school, confusion about what I would do with my life, not a real stable home life...OK, I've rambled long enough. Just let your feelings happen. There's no rhyme nor reason for mine, but I posted and talked about it a bit and now I'm better. (good memories of a good teacher) |

It is never weird to feel sad about someone passing away, especially someone you used to know. Maybe you can contact someone that was closer to them to express your feelings, it is always nice to know that people you lost were an influence to other people.

Definitely not. This 14-year-old girl in my hometown passed away last year and it saddened me. It's totally not weird.
