My father uses Lexapro and he says it helps him out a lot. I have been told the medicine needs a good month or 2 of taking it regularly to change your chemistry and work properly. Before just kicking it I would talk with your doctor and see what they recommend.

Hello. I am using Lexapro for anxiety, but I believe I may have mild depression. It took me about 4-5 months to kick in. It took a lot longer than I thought it would. I never had time to experience positive effects with Zoloft due to side effects, but Lexapro has done a lot for my social anxiety. There are barely any side effects if any. I don't feel as depressed this winter, well at least not yet. Hopefully it will kick in soon for you.

Social anxiety disorder, GAD, OCD, and panic attacks

Lexapro, 10 mg

First time I was prescribed it, this medication worked like a champ. It "cured" depression for me in a miraculous manner. Within 6 months, I went from the bottom of the heap to the top of the mountains. I gained a bit of weight but it was well worth it. The second time around, it didn't work so well, but my depression came back probably because I came off of the medication too early. Cheers.

I'm on cipralex 20mg for 2 months now. I still have negative thoughts, don't go outside unless for work, stomach pain and brain flashes. I guess you could say that it is not currently working lol. I wish I could gain 20 lbs like people are saying but I'm not overly hungry.

Negative thinking is very much a symptom of being human. Crippling negativity is a symptom of depression. It's healthy to feel sad, it's also healthy to recognize our emotions and learn to work with them rather than let them control us.
