I am desperate. I have begged for help from friends for a while but they say that it is nothing and to get over it. It's not their fault, they simply don't understand. My parents are abusive physically and emotionally so that is out. They have no idea. I am done trying. there is NO support where I live, that goes without saying -- I mean there is not even a hotline to call. The hospital is an hour away and has only rudimentary supplies, it's barely a hospital. I don't know what to do! I am so terrified at this moment, I need helpasap. No hotlines to call, so now what? I am one of thousands most likely who is severely, and I mean dangerously, mentally ill. When will the world (well okay America) realize there is a HUGE problem here? And more importantly -- what can I do about it for myself? It doesn't seem right that people are suffering so horribly, in plain view....but I suppose I am more concerned with my own suffering at this moment, that is, how to stop it. It is unbearable and has gone on nonstop, so I think it's time to cut my losses.

1-800-273 -talk is a national hotline. Maybe they can help you.

I'm sorry you're in this situation. You're right, America needs to wakw up and face our problem with mental health issues. I have a couple of suggestions for you which might (in addition to continuing to post here) help. Try calling 211-- that will get you to information about mental health services in your region. Here's a Psych Central link that has a national hotline and other helpful info on it: Common Hotline Phone Numbers | Psych Central. When you start posting in the forums I am sure other members will have other resources for you too. I know you're terrified at the moment, but hold on to that little bit of hope that brought you here-- and keep posting.

nadiahoney I see there have been others to offer national numbers. Those are good resources but know this. They have caller ID. I would suggest blocking your phone number before calling and using a fake name. I use to volunteer at a crisis hotline before. One thing you are trained to do is if you feel the person is in imminent danger you are to call the police. If you suspect child abuse you are legally required to report it. So the less specific information you can give them the better off you are.

I am from RSA and know that its even worse at this stage than a 1 world country like America can be. It sounds like your living in the country side and from experience I know it is very challenging. I am so sorry to hear that your parents is the way thy are. If anything the people closes to you should be the ones that is supportive and even the ones helping you in contacting professional help for you this I know since posting at psych central I had more than ample change to write and read about others and your self keep writing it helps
