I think I just had my first onset of PMDD. It was pretty scary, especially for my boyfriend. It was weird because I ended the previous night with him laughing and the next day I'm yelling at him before he wakes up. And having suicidal thoughts. It's not bipolar as I was noticing weird physical symptoms the day before in a 24-hour period 5 days before my period. It had also been a long time since our last fight or the last time I felt depressed, and in both cases I had something to feel angry or depressed about. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice? I don't really trust drugs, especially with all the negative publicity surrounding Yaz as SSRIs.

Hi Grad, I'm sorry you have to cope with such mood changes through the month.
I don't really know anything of this as my depression has nothing to do with the time of the month. I know some friends of mine found benefit from supplements. I'm not sure which, the only one I remember is evening primrose oil.

One thing that helps me is to remind myself that "this too will pass"

Best wishes for your future as you find a way forward.
Thanks for this!

I had PMDD. I'm menopausal now so I don't know that it applies anymore.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It can be very rough - including on the people closest to you.

I'd encourage you to be open-minded about therapeutic approaches and to seek out a caring, well informed GYN. There's just no reason to suffer every month.

I wish you the best.

Multiple people I have talked to told me to fire my gyno after he prescribed me prozac to take only prior to my period.

Have you tried it? I know its crazy in terms of the usual use of antidepressants as they usually take weeks to work, but I know two people who reacted very quickly to Prozac (next day) although they both went too happy. If you have tried it, then I agree, a second opinion would definitely be in order.
