I'm at school and I have huge urge to cut. I don't know what to do. I don't want to be in here. I feel almost...trapped.

Take a deep breath.

Is there anyone you can talk to? I don't know your age, so I am not sure your options. A school counselor, favorite teacher, or even a phone you can use to call someone who can help?

Keep taking those deep controlled breaths and try to think of someone who can help and how to alert them to your situation.

These urges are so strong, but if you can hold out, they reduce a bit in time. I'm working to beat an addiction to self injury. I get cravings, often I can distract myself and keep occupied a few minutes or an hour at a time. If I can't I always have a helpline number handy... I've memorised it now, and they have helped me through.

Better. I went to the bathroom and when I walked out the teacher was coming. She knew something was up so we walked around the school while talking. It really helped me. I've still been struggling with the urges but I'm doing better.

Well done mydailybattle,

That was brave to open up to the teacher and a good thing to do.

I hope you can talk to that teacher again when things get difficult, before you feel overwhelmed again.

I am so glad you had somebody safe to talk with when you were struggling. It really can make a huge difference.
