Has anyone experienced depression so deep and/or for so long that one has lost their sense of taste or smell? Not from medications... Just from deep depression.

I could only wish - it would be awesome not to taste & desire Haagen Dazs.

yes, i have almost lost the sense of taste, whatever i eat it seems the same thing. not good as before. they're just things i eat to feel better and then they disappoint me because they almost have no taste at all. is this what you meant?

Yes that is what I meant. I had a friend in treatment with me a long time ago who had lost her sense of taste. Now, I've lost my appetite, but I am eating sporadically. Ever since my local food store closed I've had trouble finding another brand of tomato juice that I like (I drink it a lot, it is easiest to take my prescriptions with). Last week I noticed it isn't just the tomato juice that is off, it is everything I eat, and I realized it isn't the tomato juice it is me. Everything seems to have lost its flavor or tastes bad.

If this happened to me last time I didn't notice or I don't remember. I was hospitalized last time so maybe I just chalked it up to bad hospital food.
