Hi everyone...I'm new here. It is wonderful how supportive you all are of each other.

Several years ago I fell into a deep depression due to some problems in my family. After a few years I started having obsessive thoughts, and my obsession actually helped me get out of my depression. It spurred me into action in a lot of positive ways and my life progressed in a good direction.

When my life seemed more on track, I realized that the obsession was now causing me more emotional problems than benefits. So I sought out therapy and eventually was able to resolve my obsession.

I have been obsession-free for a couple of months now, but my depression has returned with a vengeance. I am no longer in therapy and do not want to go back.

Does anyone have any experience with this? How did you help yourself?

Thank you in advance!

Hi. I am glad you joined.

Too bad you couldn't harness that obsessive energy just enough to stay motivated but not over do it. I know how hard that is.

Many of us have your experience. As far as helping ourselves.....stick around and post and read.

I'm sorry you're struggling so much.
Do you think your desire not to go back to therapy is the depression talking?

If you were a friend, would you advise them to go back to therapy?

Best wishes as you look for a way forward, and keep posting here.

I hope you can help you need.
