When "sharing" is a "weakness" ....

I think this is a pernicious lie swallowed by those who wish to conform to a dysfunctional "culture"...

Just how exactly is being open and honest a "weakness" especially for those who have been brainwashed by deceit and abuse throughout their childhood

(This is not about anyone on PC)

You have to have a certain amount of chutzpah to be honest and open.

It is a strong person who risks criticism by laying it all out there...

That sharing is a weakness was a small part of my parent's abusive brainwashing regimen - along with so much worse.

It is damaging negative Conditioning I am still fighting against after so many years.

I think your therapist (and people on PC ) are the only ones who don't mind hearing your problems. In general, people want to live in a fantasy world where nothing is wrong.

Well, personally, I don't consider being open & honest a weakness. But I will say that, at least in my experience, it has not necessarily produced desirable results. In the end, I just ended up feeling exposed & foolish...

The chorus of the song below says

"Come on, speak to me, tell me what's going on with you now
If not, when your soul is alone it will cry
You have to bring everything outside, like the springtime
No one wants something to die inside
Speak, looking each other in the eyes, bring out what you can
So that new things can be born inside" (rough translation)
