Don't give up.

That is good advice when in a depressive place. It isn't like living. It is just existing and waiting for when you will live again.

I envy those who find relief in medications. They don't work for me.

I am still in that other place of darkness. Through a window I see others living and enjoying life and I envy them.

How do I get out of this place and back into the world?

Don't give up is what others here are saying to me. That I will get back to the world of the living.

You know what it is like when you can't feel those words to be true. I have to trust that others here know what they are talking about.

The depression is like a dragon holding me captive in its cave. It does not want me to escape. But I must escape and get back to the world.

I hear you. Many people think the opposite of depression is happiness, but I think the opposite of depression is vitality.

I like to use the metaphor of a big tree. The tree is hundreds of years old and has weathered many storms. The key to its survival is its ability to bend.

So you bend not break.

I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for this!

I will try to think of that old tree. I have been to the great redwood forests of California and seen those old trees the Native Americans call our brothers and sisters. I feel very brittle now but since I am not breaking maybe I am bending. Thank you.
