Help, I'm recently diagnosed with depression and started taking Wellbutrin. Last night I had 4 beers and now I completely hate myself. I didn't realize how severe the interaction was-I don't know how to make it through the day

Welcome to the forum, Help987. What kind of reaction are you having? Has your depression increased? If you just started the medication, it will take a number of weeks to kick in. In the meantime, you may want to think about moderating your drinking. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, the beer increased my depression dramatically. I've been on the meds for about 2 months and was doing well but I feel miserable and hopeless right now- I don't know how to get through this

Also I don't drink very often- this is about the first time in 2 months and I was not prepared for how I feel now- I definitely learned a lesson but I don't know how to get through today

Drinking was not advised by my psychiatrist.

In your situation I would try to reach out to someone safe if you feel like you are temporarily not doing or able to cope. Those acute spikes in depression can be very disturbing to myself and catch me off guard. If you don't have anyone maybe go somewhere with people so you maybe can distract yourself from how you feel. Maybe a resteraunt or somewhere you like to go.

I find relief in sleep. I can sleep and sleep to get away from my feelings and life. I have slept 14 hours a day for days on end before. It doesn't greatly help my depression and probably makes it worse but I can get through the painful moments.

Thanks, that's good advice. I didn't understand how strong the side effect was and will be more careful but today has been SO difficult.
