Especially when suicide is probably the best thing that could possibly happen for some.

Hello shining17: Well... the Skeezyks is not in any position of authority here on PC. So my comments are simply my personal opinion.

Suicide is, in fact, frequently mentioned in posts here on PC. It is a sad fact-of-life (ironically) when one is talking about mental illness. But I think the idea here is simply that what is not okay is to write posts that overtly threaten suicide or state that it is one's intention to commit suicide. It is also not acceptable for members to discuss specifics with regard to how one might go about committing suicide.

For one thing these kinds of discussions can be triggering for other members who might also be struggling. But, beyond that, anyone who is overtly suicidal needs real-life help. There is no way we here on PC can provide this. And while it might be possible for one to argue that suicide might be the best option for some, we here on PC are about the business of supporting one another... not facilitating our final exits.

If someone is seriously considering acting on their suicidal thoughts they need more than the support they can get on psychcentral. It is time for intervention by pdoc, T, or going to an emergency dept and likely going inpt.

For those members that care about the suicidal pc member it can be extremely upsetting if they post their suicidal intent and then disappear and we don't know if they went inpt or if they are dead.

There are better resources than pc when a member requires crisis intervention.

Oh, I don't know that the whole forum is triggering. I often find it helpful and rarely triggering. PC serves a very specific purpose for me, being a place where I can discuss things that I choose not to discuss with people I know or my therapists/pdoc. I like the anonymity, the fact that it is available 24/7, the sense that I am not the only one. I also enjoy lending support when I can.

I think this post explains it. http://forums.psychcentral.com/depre...resources.html

You can talk about your feelings but not the method of suicide.

i honestly can't give a straight answer.

i agree with everything the op said- in theory (with the trigger code and such) you could actually talk about it- i mean any other asspects of mental health you can.

perhaps it's because this site aims to ease these feelings and make you feel better

you see it all the time- chat to reduce feelings of self harm, or bipolar support, etc etc etc.

what ever.. maybe that comes in to it

I don't understand this statement. I think suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

maybe yest, maybe no

the fact remains that each person who wants suicide has their reason, and they've taken all they can take in life.

i think sometimes when you look at someone who is suicidal you really need to look deeper and ask yourself how it got to this, how did it get to the option where the only thing left was to take your own life

and i also think that for people who's lives just arn't getting better, you can't really apply the above statement. some people (a lot of people), think this through
