Why is it that the smallest things are thought about over and over again until it effects my mood?
A comment gets played over and over again in my head... I easily feel ignored and isolated and then can not stop crying... What do other people do to stop being upset and to stop dwelling on stuff that are not a big deal in the grand scheme of things? |

Hello NeverGiveIn: Well... in my case I strive to accept these kinds of intrusive thoughts with lovingkindness & compassion. It is a Buddhist practice called compassionate abiding. (You can search the term on the web should you have an interest.)

I like Skeezyks answer, for me the sooner I can catch the negative thinking train and divert it to something else the better. If I don't catch is soon enough then I am in for a bad day.

I struggle with that, too. Mostly I try to distract myself from it, if it's not something that I can do anything concrete about at the time. Or just tell myself, it's ok, it's not the end of the world, there's always tomorrow and things can get better. When all else fails, taking a shower and getting a good night of sleep helps.
I hope things go better for you. ![]()

Bury it and distract myself with something positive enough, and long enough, to allow my mind to go over the negative comment, action etc. without getting too lost in it.
